Esther
is a writer

A born-and-raised New Yorker

in Taiwan. Temporarily.

김윤경
재미 교포 작가입니다. 韓裔美國作者。

She’s at work on a book about Koreans foraging. Her writing has been awarded full fellowships or bursaries from the Fulbright Program (USA), the Vermont Studio Center (USA), Granta (UK), and Sterling College (USA). Read more about my Granta student experience here.

She was the Digital Communications Manager of the Asian American Writers’ Workshop (AAWW), a literary nonprofit in NYC. She started as an editor of their award-winning magazine The Margins, curated “Monsoon Notebook,” and produced hundreds of stories, promoting writing from and about the Asian diaspora. Before that, she had a career in books in NYC and London. She moved from academic publishing to a major trade literary press to a teeny startup publisher focused on translations. Finally, she founded a micropress of her own in 2026…

She writes a monthly column for The Korea Times, a top English-language daily in South Korea. You can find her writing on books and foods in The Guardian, The Nation, and Modern Farmer, among many others. She edits and writes copy for clients such as Talent Taiwan and The New Yorker’s Branded Content Studio.

Born and raised in New York, Esther is a traveler and heirloom bean enthusiast. She regularly volunteered with New York City’s Girls Write Now, the very mentorship scheme that nurtured her teenage ambitions, and she likes cycling through her city and spending time with friends and family. She lives in Taiwan with her longtime partner and the rare gecko. 🦎
